Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a valuable diagnostic tool widely used in equine medicine to investigate a range of conditions, including performance issues, respiratory disorders, urinary tract problems, and to assist in sample collection.
This procedure allows direct visualisation of the upper respiratory tract - including the pharynx, larynx, guttural pouches, and nasal passages as well as the lower respiratory tract, encompassing the trachea and lungs. Additionally, endoscopy can be used to examine the urethra and bladder when indicated.
Endoscopy is particularly essential in the evaluation of poor performance, detection of upper airway obstructions, and diagnosis of respiratory conditions such as equine asthma. It also plays a critical role in identifying infectious diseases, including strangles. Endoscopy facilitates targeted sample collection for laboratory analysis.

We offer endoscopic examinations both at your premises and at our clinic. The procedure is performed under light sedation to ensure the horse’s comfort and safety. Following the examination, a comprehensive report and tailored treatment plan will be provided and discussed with you in detail.
