Shockwave

We offer Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) as part of an integrated treatment and rehabilitation programme for our patients.

This non-invasive therapy uses focused acoustic waves to stimulate healing in musculoskeletal tissues. It is widely used in both veterinary and human medicine to promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and provide long lasting pain relief.

ESWT works by increasing blood flow and stimulating the release of growth factors that support healing in tendons, ligaments, bone, and soft tissues. It also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, while enhancing collagen production and tissue regeneration.

ESWT is commonly used for conditions such as tendinopathies,

ligament injuries, insertional desmopathies, back or SI pain, and muscle injuries. It is also helpful for wound healing and reduction of scar tissue. In some performance horses, it is used as part of ongoing maintenance to support soundness and performance.

Treatments are typically spaced every two weeks and can be performed at our clinic or at your premises. Most horses tolerate the procedure well; however, light sedation may be used if the area being treated is particularly sensitive.
